The energy-saving of frequency converters is mainly reflected in the application of fans and water pumps. After using variable frequency speed regulation for fan and pump loads, the power saving rate is between 20% and 60%, because the actual power consumption of fan and pump loads is basically proportional to the third power of the speed. The frequency converter achieves the goal of environmental protection and energy conservation by changing the frequency and adjusting the speed of the motor. Our frequency converters have a wide range of functions and styles, but do you really know what the functions and functions of frequency converters are? Below, we will explain to you the main functions of frequency converters.


1、 Adjustable torque limit

After variable frequency speed regulation, corresponding torque limits can be set to protect the machinery from damage, thereby ensuring the continuity of the process and the reliability of the product. The current frequency conversion technology enables not only adjustable torque limits, but also torque control accuracy to reach around 3% to 5%. In the power frequency state, the motor can only be controlled by detecting current values or thermal protection, and cannot operate with precise torque values like in variable frequency control.


2、 The stopping method can be controlled


Controlled stopping method. Just like controllable acceleration, in variable frequency speed regulation, the stopping method can be controlled, and there are different stopping methods to choose from (deceleration parking, free parking, deceleration parking plus DC braking). Similarly, it can reduce the impact on mechanical components and motors, making the entire system more reliable and correspondingly increasing its lifespan.



3、 Energy saving



Centrifugal fan or water pump can greatly reduce energy consumption after using frequency converter, which has been reflected in more than ten years of experience in L process. Due to the fact that the final energy consumption is proportional to the rotational speed of the motor, the investment return is faster after using frequency conversion.



4、 Reversible operation control



In frequency converter control, to achieve reversible operation control, there is no need for additional reversible control devices, only the phase sequence of the output voltage needs to be changed, which can reduce maintenance costs and save installation space.



5、 Reduce mechanical transmission components



Due to the current vector controlled frequency converter combined with a synchronous motor, efficient torque output can be achieved, thereby saving mechanical transmission components such as gearboxes, ultimately forming a direct variable frequency transmission system. This can reduce costs and space, and improve stability.



6、 Lower power required during startup



The power of the motor is directly proportional to the product of current and voltage, so the power consumed by directly starting the motor through I-frequency will be much higher than the power required for variable frequency starting. In some cases, the distribution system has reached its maximum limit, and the surge generated by directly starting the motor at power frequency will have a serious impact on other users on the same network, leading to warnings and even fines from the power grid operator. If a frequency converter is used to start and stop the motor, similar problems will not occur.



7、 Controllable acceleration function



Variable frequency speed regulation can start at zero speed and accelerate uniformly according to user needs, and its acceleration curve can also be selected (linear acceleration, S-shaped acceleration, or automatic acceleration). When starting through I. frequency, severe vibration will occur on the motor or connected mechanical parts of the shaft or gear. This vibration will further exacerbate mechanical wear and loss, reducing the lifespan of mechanical components and motors. In addition, variable frequency starting can also be applied to similar filling lines to prevent bottles from tipping over or damaging.



8、 Control the starting current of the motor



When the motor is directly started through the I frequency, it will generate 7 to 8 times the rated current of the motor. This current value will greatly increase the electrical stress of the motor winding and generate heat, thereby reducing the lifespan of the motor. Variable frequency speed regulation can be started at zero speed and zero voltage (or torque can be appropriately increased). Once the relationship between frequency and voltage is established, the frequency converter can drive the load to operate in V/F or vector control mode. The use of variable frequency speed regulation can fully reduce the starting current and improve the bearing capacity of the winding. The most direct benefit for users is that the maintenance cost of the motor will be further reduced, and the lifespan of the motor will correspondingly increase.



9、 Reduce voltage fluctuations in power lines



When the motor starts at L-frequency, the current increases sharply while the voltage also fluctuates significantly. The magnitude of the voltage decrease will depend on the power of the starting motor and the capacity of the distribution network. A voltage drop will cause voltage sensitive devices in the same power supply network to malfunction and trip or cause abnormal operation, such as PCs, sensors, proximity switches, and contactors, which will all act incorrectly.



After adopting variable frequency speed regulation, the voltage drop can be eliminated to the greatest extent due to the ability to gradually start at zero frequency and zero voltage.



10、 Protection function



Short circuit protection to ground, phase to phase short circuit protection, input phase loss protection, output phase loss protection, overvoltage protection, undervoltage protection, temperature protection, input output reverse connection protection.



The control functions of the frequency converter are already very complete, which can be well coordinated with other control equipment and instruments to achieve centralized real-time monitoring and control of systematic networking, such as cooperating with DCS, PLC, servo drivers, etc., greatly improving the automation level of the equipment and saving a large amount of labor costs for the enterprise.
